There are numerous reasons we no longer recommend this clinic. See the complaint we filed with the WA State Dept of Health(this is a matter of public record). This complaint details their incompetence in performing a basic spay surgery. They removed only one ovary from Sugar (a rabbit) and then sutured her closed leaving the second ovary and her uterus. (What on earth were they doing that they would forget they were in the middle of a spay surgery?!!) The clinic stated she was spayed & charged us for the spay. Months later when she was still acting unspayed, we had to pay to have her tested for hormone levels and then have an exploratory surgery performed. (which found the uterus and 2nd ovary.) If you'd like copies of the attachments included with the complaint comtact us. - Info@rabbitrodentferret.org - Complaint filed with WA State Veterinary Board of Governors
Here are just two additional problems.
*They won't allow anyone into the back room to see what goes on there or how the animals are housed. Other veterinarians allow you to see their back room and many are quite proud and want to show you around. You can't trust a vet who won't allow you to see how they are caring for your companion.
*When an animal dies at any of the other clinics we have used they return your companions body wrapped respectfully in the towel or blanket they came to the clinic in. Some clinics also place a sprig of parsley or a dandelion flower on the blanket. In contrast Avian & Exotic return your companion to you wrapped up like a package of meat. They come back in a square package (how many animals are "square"?) of blue surgery drape with white first aid tape wrapped around & around the package. If you are brave enough to open the package to say goodbye (and if there has been a surgery or postmortem done) you'll find your companion has not been stitched closed and his guts are outside his body. Yes this is graphic and disturbing, but this disrespect of our & your companion animals is another of the many reasons we do not recommend this clinic.

General Practice
We met Dr. Vanosdoll (usually referred to as Dr. Van) in 1990 at our first House Rabbit Workshop. Although his clinic location is a bit far from our shelter, we have taken our critters to him when our primary veterinarian is not available. He is an excellent surgeon. And if he were closer he would see us more often.
Emergency Care
Dr. Van has trained (and continues to train) Alpine's emergency staff, in rabbit care. If the emergency veterinarian on duty has questions, Dr. Van is (usually) available by phone. This emergency clinic is our first choice in after hours care.
Clinic Our general practice staff emphasizes preventative care and education in an effort to keep your pet happy and healthy. Our emergency practice team is poised to save your pet's life, just in case the unexpected happens.

Several years later she began spay/neuter surgeries for our g. pigs. She's a highly skilled surgeon, an excellent & compassionate veterinarian and the primary veterinarian for our shelter animals.
